Summerlands is full of hidden surprises

“Summerlands does not feel like a care home, more like a ‘home from home’.”

Daughter of Resident, carehome.co.uk

When you walk into Summerlands, you can feel the warmth and love shown by staff – a recent visitor said this about our home, “I thought it was absolutely delightful in every way, the decor, the garden, and a wonderful atmosphere that just breathed kindness”.

Summerlands looks and feels like a real home. Bright, colourful, and bustling with life and lots of laughter. The gardens stocked with flowers and plants fully wrap around the whole home and have been designed to be fully accessible, giving residents and visitors the freedom to walk around as they wish. At the back of the garden, there is a seating area and pergola around a stunning pond with sensory plants and a waterfall.

In and around Haywards Heath

Just a stone’s throw from High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we’re spoilt for choice at Summerlands Care Home in West Sussex when it comes to days out and places to visit: Wakehurst Botanical Gardens, Bluebell Railway, Borde Hill Garden, Beech Hurst Park Miniature Railway, Latchetts Garden, the National Trust’s Sheffield Park and Garden, Nymans, Saddlescombe Farm and Standen, as well as all sorts of lovely locations right near us here in Haywards Heath. We also love a fun day out at Brighton Pier in the summer, complete with a delicious ice cream.

Plenty of choice at mealtimes

At Summerlands Care Home, we appreciate that people don’t necessarily want to eat their meals at the same time each day, which is why we don’t have set times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Residents have breakfast when they choose and can enjoy this in the dining room or in the comfort of their bedroom. Lunch is provided between 12:30 and 14:00, so if somebody has had a later breakfast, they can have a later lunch too when they’re hungry. Dinner is served from 17:30 and visitors are more than welcome to join residents at mealtimes.

We recently extended our West Sussex care home and built a brand-new dining room – with bifold doors leading out onto a new terrace, residents can enjoy wonderful views of the stunning Summerlands gardens throughout the year, and even sit outside for meals if they’d like to.

We create a varied menu for residents to choose their meals from each week, using fresh, locally sourced produce and cooking everything here in our recently renovated and extended commercial kitchen. We offer lots of choice and cater for all dietary requirements.

Events and activities in our home

“There are activities every day which are run with enthusiasm and a sense of fun, which the residents clearly appreciate.”

Activities in our residential care home in Haywards Heath range from fitness, baking, poetry sessions, quizzes and cards, to shopping trips, tea parties, massage and more – our aim is to keep life at Summerlands as varied and stimulating as possible, so we’re always excited to try out new activities, but like to keep on running residents’ firm favourites.

“Summerlands is a haven of love, care, dignity and support for residents and family, it felt like your own home.”
