My mother was in Summerlands for exactly a year. In this time staff were excellent, so caring and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room mum had was always clean and the staff so helpful. Mum died unexpectedly in her sleep on Easter Day night. The staff who cared for her that night were brilliant and we as a family (I have 3 siblings) are so grateful to them. She received wonderful care during the year and staff even visited her when she had a spell in hospital. The managers are excellent and always so helpful. We will miss going to the home and I would thoroughly recommend anyone going there.Margaret (Daughter of Resident) z
David E (Son of Resident/Service User)We moved my mother into Summerlands just before Christmas 2015 and have been so impressed with every aspect ever since. Despite my mother's high standards on everything she is very happy at Summerlands and tells me it feels just like being in a luxury hotel.Every aspect of the bed/sitting room my mother occupies was totally re-fitted and redecorated before my mother moved in, including the entire en-suite shower room, and to a very high standard and yet my mother has been encouraged to have personal touches added to make the room feel 'more like home', including shelves for her photos and pictures on the walls (the work done by the home's maintenance staff at no extra cost). The owner is always available and does everything in her power to make all her guests (residents) to look on Summerlands as their own home.I cannot fault any aspect of the home.We feel extremely fortunate to have found this care home for my mother and I know my father would have been very impressed.z
We moved my mother from her home to Summerlands just prior to Christmas. She has been made so welcome as we are whenever we visit. All staff are pleasant, caring and welcoming. The home is clean, meals are excellent and nothing appears to be too much trouble. I would highly recommend Summerlands to anyone looking.M S (Daughter of Resident/Service User) z
Jenny (Daughter of Resident/Service User)Looking around the area with my siblings at about 10 homes, we were instantly drawn to this lovely, warm, clean, happy 'home'. 'Home' is the word the conjures up the ethos of this place. The staff are exceptional, they all go over and above the average, each resident is treated as an individual, there is always something going on activity wise, for those who want it.The care my mother receives is exceptional. I would be very happy to end my days in this lovely care home, and am so relieved that my mother is in the best place.z
My sister and I reviewed the care home options in Haywards Heath and chose Summerlands and continue to be happy with the care facilities. My mother is happy and eating better, a balanced diet, enjoys company, spends her days in the day room taking part in the varied social activities. The home is run and managed by caring people, mums room was refurbished before she moved in on 26/10/15. The home is continually being refurbished and a new kitchen is being built to provide a better choice of meals and I believe a new dining room. Social activities excellent including chair exercises, art, flower arranging. A pantomime was held before Christmas, mum took part and sang and family were invited. Outings arranged for residents and care support.Sally B (Daughter of Resident) z
My mum arrived determined not to settle in but with staff and family encouragement, she was settled in within weeks. Every day there are activities to keep the residents busy from dancing, musicians, chair aerobics, cooking, movie club, tea parties and more. The interaction and affection the staff all show is far beyond any job description, they are truly dedicated to the well being of the residents. The cleanliness is high, home cooked food by a resident chef and communication from the staff on how my mum was doing was on a daily basis. Knowing she was safe, happy, clean and comfortable was a real relief but the unexpected extremely high standard of the care from the staff was an absolute bonus. On my very regular visits I felt like I was part of the family at Summerlands and I will never forget those precious times and laughs we all had together.Elizabeth Killick (Daughter of Resident/Service User)
Wonderful home with very caring staff who have helped to transform my mothers life. She has only been there three weeks but the care and kindness she has received has been fantastic. The staff really care and go out of their way to enure the happpiness and needs of their residents. I have no hesitation in recommending this homeMike Denyer (Son of Resident/Service User) z
Beautiful care home that really 'cares'. The owners are 'hands on' in the running of the home and standards are meticulously high. Staff are consciencious, personable and pleasant at all times. Thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of placing a loved one in the care sector.Matthew H (Son of resident)
I am so grateful that my Mother is being looked after so well. She has been in Summerlands for nearly 18 months and all the staff have been wonderful and understanding. They are always all approachable and helpful and make changes where and when necessary. The management team understand my Mothers needs and are kind and compassionate as are all the carers. They all work very hard but still manage to be cheerful and helpful with plenty of compassion. The food served is always really good.Allison H (Daughter of Resident) z
Our mother who has Alzheimer's disease is extremely well cared for at Summerlands and the way she has settled in is nothing short of a miracle for us. The care is remarkable in many ways with residents being offered both dignity and warmth. There is most often a remarkable lightness and readiness for fun and the level of kindness I have observed as standard is well above what I have observed in visiting many other homes in a professional capacity. There is significant attention paid to individual needs and problems are picked up ad relayed to families who wish to be involved. All staff I have met are warm in their approach and respectful towards residents. They are confident, diligent and seem very well-trained and well-motivated. This is a credit to the manager. There are lots of activities including quizzes, movie afternoon, tea dances, chairobics, art classes, Christian services and discussions, Tai Chi, bowling and numerous visiting musicians - all of course optional! I have responded "good" for facilities because the hall which runs through the home is very narrow and the dining room a little overcrowded which more than anything must make life difficult for staff. I am not sure much could be done about this without spoiling the character of the home. There is limited opportunity for going out but the garden is very nice and staff occasionally do take the more physically able residents out for walks. We understand that there a plans to buy a minibus which facilitate going out more. Summerlands is a home which feels, sounds, looks (and indeed smells) like a nice welcoming home.Debbie Jones (Daughter of resident) z
Mum was very anti going into a home - but she has been at Summerlands approx 3 months now and is very happy. They are a very caring and helpful group and mum has even said it's like having a second family. I am so relieved to have found them and that mum is enjoying it there!Christine P (Daughter of resident) z
Extremely good in all respects compared to other I have had contact with.Michael P (Son-in-law of Resident/Service User) z
When, sadly, my mother was no longer able to live an independent life at home (my father had died 8 years before) due to a fall resulting in a broken hip and the early onset of vascular dementia, we had to find a care home, so we looked around. As soon as we walked into Summerlands the atmosphere was different, it felt homely and the staff were lovely. Mum went in, in June 2011. Initially, mum used to ask when she could go home and it used to upset me greatly. A few weeks later she said to me it's so nice here and I like it but whatever you do, please don't put me in a care home. I think this says it all!Gillian Legg (Daughter of resident) z
Staff of this home are excellent from the time you walk in the door they make you most welcome. The residents are cared for by all the staff in a very caring way. The residents are always motivated by the staff. The rooms and gardens are very inviting. If I needed to go into a home I would thoroughly recommend it, I would feel safe and wanted.Elizabeth Wilkinson (Daughter of Resident) z
